Comics and Design
I am a published book cover designer and cartoonist, seeking more career opportunities.
I have been creating art ever since I was a little girl when my dream was to become an animator. I was constantly doodling and painting, entering pieces in local art contests and county fairs. In high school I explored desktop publishing through becoming a member of the yearbook staff and going to states in the Future Business Leaders of America desktop publishing division. Around this period I began drawing my life through comic strips.
Over time my interests shifted to working in publishing so in college I became an English literature major with a graphic design minor. While I was still creating arts and crafts for fun, I began to take design more seriously when I won a competition to design a book cover at the publishing house I was interning at. I incorporated design into my extra curricular activities by helping with layout on one of my school's magazine's, becoming the communications director. And I still drew my life as a comic strip character every week for my student newspaper, amounting in over 100 comics in four years which allowed me to design a website to showcase them.
Now that I have graduated from Binghamton University with an English Lit major and a graphic design minor I continue to do freelance design and publishing work. I hope to land a job in a communications or non-profit field and be able to continue my passion for art by creating company logos or marketing materials.
