Since Fall 2008 I have been attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, primarily in the Designed Objects department. My work investigates the value system of the consumer and uses the desire for comfort as a way to draw people towards objects and artworks. Within my work I explore digital fabrication, where 3D modeling in Rhino, Maya 2012, or Grasshopper meets the limitations of the CNC or RPT machines.

Since Fall 2011 I have been working with Neon light, one of the few materials where no machine processes developed. Neon, a medium that for decades has represented industry yet has remained a hand crafted form, falls on the border between art and industry. The bright glowing glass of neon creates an undeniably beautiful aesthetic that draws attention from viewers even from a distance. It is my hope continue to learn and develop my skill set in this form, with hopes of using this medium for architectural lighting solutions and for fine art projects along the way. Read Less
