I am a photographer based in New Haven, Connecticut with a diverse portfolio.
My work encompasses Karissa Van Tassel Photography, the studio through which I do local commercial and lifestyle/portrait work, and The Left Bank by Karissa Van Tassel, my online store which sells my other series of photographs.
I shoot in a number of photographic styles to best meet the needs of my clients. I generally take a photojournalistic approach to capturing people and events, but have a more documentary style when working with businesses to help them catalog their products or showcase their space. I always shoot digitally to allow the greatest flexibility during the editing process. I edit each of my photographs individually to ensure the sharpness of the image, as well as to develop a consistency in the set of images my clients receive. I work with labs who print exclusively for professional photographers to ensure the endurance of the print, as well as the accuracy of the color, quality, and detail.
My work can be found in private collections around the world, as well as in select galleries, boutiques, and magazines. I am honored to have had my work listed in a number of websites and blogs, including Art Hound, Gifted Design, and Connecticut Magazine. In addition, my photographs are currently featured in more than 250 treasuries at www.etsy.com.
