Welcome to my portfolio site!

My name is Kaitlyn but everyone calls me Katie. All of my life I have been in love with all things design. Interior design was the first type of design that I became obsessed with at a young age. I never really liked to draw, but I would always cut out pictures, words, and letters from magazines and create my own art work. I enjoyed scrapbooking and I would get so excited when we were given a project to do in school. I loved creating presentation boards and putting everything together.

​Going away my first year of college at Central Michigan University, I had no idea what ​I wanted to do. I took classes in Accounting, Medical Occupations, Drafting — you name it, I've tried it. Nothing seemed to interest me. I moved back home to enroll at Macomb Community College to figure out what I wanted to do, and planned on applying to a college or university that would get me started on my career once I decided.

​When I started at Macomb, I signed up for Design Fundamentals — and that was it! I knew who I was and what I was meant to do. I believe everything happens for a reason. If I had stayed at Central, I know I would have been missing out on a huge part of who I am. Coming home was the best decision of my life. I love waking up in the morning feeling inspired and excited to take on whatever projects I have for the day. Hours go by like minutes. I always say, "if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life!" Read Less
