Artistic skill and scientific curiosity meet in the lap of the field of design for me. I am fascinated by the human experience, the world around me, the world of perceptions and associations, and the subtleties of effective communication: cultural contexts in a photograph, crowd behavior around a public installation, inciting an action with a business card, developing a collective mythology around a brand, eye-tracking on a layout, the golden ratio in Western culture, etc. etc. etc. I learn, I design, I make art, I write, and sometimes I take pictures. :: J

I'm originally and occasionally a Texan, but I grew up on a farm in Idaho playing with bugs and climbing trees. I love all kinds of outdoor recreational activities that come from growing up in a place like Idaho, but I have always been enamored with the urban, and so now I call the beautiful city of Seattle home.
