Joana M. Carvalho (born in 1990) earned her degree in Design from the University of Aveiro (2011). In the final semester she took part in an exchange at Delft University of Technology (Holland), where she had the chance to acquire knowledge in the industrial design field. Previously, she had attended the Product Design course at Antonio Arroio Artistic Specialize Secondary School (Lisbon, 2008).
In 2010 Joana was selected to be at the Talents, Tendence Fair in Frankfurt.
Even thought her field of choice is the design of objects, her holistic training make her adopt a more global vision in the projects - from graphic design to service design - which she considers to be indispensable in the act of thinking and designing.
When designing solutions, she seeks for the “little changes” that can optimize a product and make all the difference. The observation of the Human quotidian “vices”, the usages that weren’t supposed to exist, the unexpected things and ways of doing, are the places where she looks for answers. Read Less
