Project:  Identity/Branding Update for a Church
Client:  Calvary Church - Santa Ana, California

In 2004, I was a Pastor on staff with Calvary Church of Santa Ana, California.  I decided to experiment with alternative ways to convey the church's logo.  The logo was conceived around the acronym W.I.S.E., standing for Worship, Instruction, Service, and Evangelism.

Update #1
my first attempt to give new life to the logo

At first, I merely attempted to redraw the WISE icons so they were clearer, and I removed the yellow and purple color combination.  This version was used for a period of time.  I don't think people noticed.  It was not a drastic departure.  It was meant to be a simple update to what was well established and accepted.

Below, you can see my attempt to re-illustrate the WISE icons in a dramatically different way.  In the end, I tried to draw them as though cast out of glass.  These icons are used sparingly on the church's website, but were never incorporated into the "official" logo.
