Project: Identity/Branding for a Bookstore & Cafe
Client: Calvary Church - Santa Ana, California
Client: Calvary Church - Santa Ana, California

The Corner Bookstore & Cafe is operated by Calvary Church of Santa Ana, California. It was my privilege to work with Randy Harris, the store's manager, to establish its identity and branding. The above illustration of the logo was the final draft I created. At the time, I was new to illustrator and more comfortable using Photoshop, so I initially designed the logo in Photoshop.
We employed the assistance of another graphic designer (Tim McMahan) to create a vector-based version of the logo. In addition, Tim created several alternate versions of the logo by rearranging the graphic's elements. This provided the store with a few different options depending on how the graphic would be used whether on letterhead or on a sign or on a mailer, etc. Lastly, Tim worked with the store during its renovation to appropriately color the logo to fit its new interior as signs needed to be made. You can see a color version of the logo embedded in a web page I designed for the store within the church's website.
