KountryJoe.com is a web site I created for Chad Ashton, an Orange County videographer. It serves as an online showcase for his video production business. The project involved creating Chad's overall brand and identity. By the time I got involved, he had already settled on KountryJoe Productions as his business name.
It was clear to me that Chad himself was KountryJoe, so that should be reflected in the brand. I asked Chad to have his wife, Rachel, take several photos of him with his black cowboy hat. Among those was a partial profile with the hat pulled low over his eyes. Using that as a base, I worked in Photoshop to stylize it into his logo. Next, it seemed natural to draw upon a "Wanted Poster" for inspiration. Thus, the font choice, text layout, and the parchment graphic were obvious components. Of course, the last question was how to tie the wild west theme with video production. The photo of the old trunk full of film reels felt right, especially after doing some Photoshop work on it. I think the Sepia tone really helped.
