My name is Jean Vatchara — I’m a communication designer and visual thinker currently based in Bangkok, Thailand. Often described as full of energy, thoughtful and open-minded, I would like to dedicate my career to pushing boundaries and standards in order to create original designs that are logically sound.
I moved to the UK in 2002 at the age of 14 to pursue my studies. Trained as an architect, my design approach is often functionality-led. I believe in solving design problems from the core through analysis and experimentation. By doing this, I believe, the appropriate aesthetics will surface making it internally, externally, and eternally effective.
In order to allocate a precise voice for each project, I have fathomed and acquired different art and design skills. I currently know and have a deep understanding typography, book-making, illustration, copywriting and moving image.
I am currently working as an art director at Far East DDB, an advertising agency and am looking to relocate in order to pursue my passion for design full-time.
Since graduating with a 85% Merit from London College of Communication less than a year ago, I was featured in Slanted, a German typography publication also exhibiting in Granshan non Latin type conference. In addition to freelancing internationally, I am also collaborating with a UK based studio, RM&CO, on several projects.
