Jayson Won started his design career at Aerodrome Pictures where he worked with Emmy Award winning creative director Scott Miller. As a design assistant, Jayson helped create the graphic package for the NFL on NBC, and the entire graphic package for Super Bowl XXX. Jayson’s team won 2 Emmys for Best Art Direction and Best On-Air Graphics for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympic Games on NBC.
These early achievements led to a designer & art director position at Novocom. His broadcast design projects included HBO's Inside the NFL, The CLEO Awards, and the first interactive digital trading card for Upper Deck featuring Michael Jordan. Jayson also re-designed an experimental interactive television project for GE called Main Street, and gained wider recognition when he earned a Telly Award for his innovative graphic designs for CNBC.
Because of Jayson’s experience and skill in interface and interactive design, Panasonic called Jayson to consult on a new technology called DVD. Jayson applied his singular enthusiasm, unstoppable work ethic, and his expert broadcast design skills to this new medium and is wholly responsible for shaping DVD menus as we know them today.
Striking out on his own, Jayson helped launch the first DVD releases for MGM, Disney, Polygram and Universal. After a year of working independently, Jayson founded 1k Studios with fellow Novocom alum, Matt Kennedy. 1k Studios became the key player in the growing DVD world by launching the first DVD releases from Paramount and 20th Century Fox. Today 1k Studios works with 7 of the 9 major Hollywood studios and has maintained its position as the industry leader in DVD menu design, interface & interactive design, and custom programming.
In 2001 Jayson received a phone call from Apple CEO Steve Jobs. This led to a very successful collaboration between 1k Studios and Apple. 1k began developing graphics and design concepts for multiple “i-Apps” starting with iDVD. 1k Studios also produces iTunes originals.
Jayson has over 20 years experience working with some of the biggest brands in the world. Read Less
