Biography James is a fine art and commercial photographer based in the UK. He started his career by shooting for Dazed & Confused and the Telegraph. One year after finishing his education he shot the Oasis album cover ‘The Masterplan’.
Receiving commissions from Esquire (114 so far), GQ and Q magazine, his portfolio grew. This lead to the commissions to shoot Eminem, Badly Drawn Boy, Dave Holmes, to name but a few. James started to focus on musicians, actors, writers, film makers. After meeting the creator of the fashion label Boxfresh, James shot the campaigns for many years.
Reportage and social study started to become a subject interest for James, leading to a number of commissions, which allowed James to travel the world many times. Living in Canada solely to snowboard was just one pleasurable distraction that he and his wife did while shooting projects, just before settling down to have two children.
James has received a wide range of briefs from various clients and by focusing on the approach, the possibility to shoot stills and film on the same brief became possible. By studying culture and the environment the brief subjects have covered portraits, fashion, reportage, automotive, music and landscape.
