The Story of Isolda Couture
Isolda Couture is a collection of designs by emerging Fashion Designer, Isolda Marie Meade. Just after summer graduation from Marymount University, at age 22, Isolda began production of her unique alternative style, classic and contemporary couture garments in September of 2007. Promise can be seen in this young designer as she starts to make her mark in the fashion industry. Certain buzz was created when scene queen Zui Suicide (of MTV’s Paris Hilton's New BFF, Season 1, and former Suicide Girl) did runway modeling for the first Isolda Couture collection for Fall 2009 at NOVA Fashion Week and when Andrea Leigh (of MTV's The Real World: D.C.) participated in print modeling for Isolda Couture. After traveling around as a freelance designer in Washington D.C., New York City and London, England, Isolda has taken root in Columbus, Ohio where she opened the Isolda Couture: Design Studio, located by Easton Town Center. As an integral expansion of the business, Isolda invites clients into her work and showroom space to offer them an inside view of the creative process from concept to consumer, as well as personalized attention and customer service from the head designer herself.
Background
Isolda's abilities are versatile due to a broad range of fashion industry experiences. Her freelance projects have allowed her to gain skills in design and technical design, color and trend forecasting, sourcing, sales/marketing and PR, fashion show production, photo shoot coordination and more. In 2009, Isolda held a position as a Technical Design Temp for Women's Woven Tops and Dresses for Hollister and Gilly Hicks at Abercrombie & Fitch Home Office. Prior to that, she worked as a freelance designer in London, England while studying abroad in the Summer of 2007 and she was a design intern for fashion designer Betsey Johnson at her 7th Avenue design firm in New York City in September 2003. Furthermore, she has worked behind the scenes at various fashion events, including several shows at New York Fashion Week and on the costume crew for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She graduated with a B.A. in Fashion Design with a concentration in Fashion Merchandising from Marymount University in Arlington, VA in 2007 and has attended various fashion courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Where the Creativity Comes From
Isolda’s inspiration comes from various sources, such as contemporary and generational pop culture, music, art, nature, her travels abroad and the fabric itself, and her style tends to consist of vintage, bohemian, and lingerie styled looks for daytime and evening wear. She states, “I have loved fashion design ever since I was a little girl, sewing with my mom and making Barbie doll outfits. I’m very passionate about designing and take great pride in my work. I hope you like what you see!”
