Instruct is the graphic design name of John Owens based in central Manchester.

John has previously worked at Urban Splash, Hemisphere, Ian Simpson Architects and more recently Creative Director at Eskimo.

John has worked client-side with leading design studios such as North, Dalton Maag, The Designers Republic, LOVE, The Neighbourhood, Magnetic North, Un:titled and Build whilst in his role as Senior Designer at Urban Splash.

Working across many different sectors from architectural to public sector, Instruct's work includes design for print, web, exhibitions, illustration, typography, signage and brand strategy.

Graphic design, the culture and all the processes that surround it have dominated my life for over 10 years.

Having working for over 10 years in an Architectural/Regeneration background I find this experience informs my work alongside many other influences.

I have strong links with education, recently finishing a two year stint teaching at Shillington College sitting on the steering group for The Manchester Design Symposium over the last two years and launching a new design festival; Design Manchester 13 with The Manchester School of Art and Manchester City Council.

All this sounds all serious but I do have a laugh as well, I am Northern and proud, I enjoy the fruits of the city and thankful that I get to be creative for a living working whilst with some great people in the process. Read Less
