Philosophy

Primarily a photographer, I work to be part photojournalist, partially artist. This has grown out of needing something to affirm my place in the universe and validating the things I have seen and the things I value most: friends and family. This need, combined with a desire to create, combine to become my work.

A Pursuit

A camera has an undeniable gravity. It's mere appearance is able to move worlds and create an alternate universe, one that is distinctly different from one without a camera. Thus, one of my pursuits is to learn the skills to create portraits and photographs that are devoid of the camera's gravity.

As a Student Adviser

At Yokohama International School, I advise the Chowa Yearbook. With predecessors such as Stelarc, I have found it a relentless but satisfying job. I am currently in my second year as adviser, working out kinks and trying to trim down the work flow to as simple as possible, but keeping some of the meaty parts for the students to be able to learn about graphic design and production. All while I also learn about it...!
