we love fish

This project aims to raise awareness and create an overview of the problem about continuously depleting fish population in the world ocean, today. It presents a compilation of data from various sources, organized and structured in a collection of 5 folded, double sided posters. Each of them provides information about a specific sub-topic that is part of the issue. The front side works as a conventional poster and the back presents an information graphic composition using statistics, numbers and in-debt knowledge about the given topic.
At the back side of each (on the bottom) there is a reference about the source (or sources) of information
used in the poster.

The first infographic - ‘Overfishing in numbers’ brings together
an important research about the rapid depletion of fish
population over the last 60 years with United Nations
official statistics for world catch.
The second infographic presents a list of endangered
fish species available to the UK/EU consumer.
It provides reason why to avoid and (in some cases)
alternative fish spices with similar qualities.
Number 3 brings knowledge about the different
methods of industrial fishing and their impact on
targeted, non-targeted species and the environment.
The fourth composition introduces the term ‘Bycatch’
and brings numbers about the amount of animals
(fish, mammals, birds etc.) that are killed and
discarded through the process of world fishing
in a year.
The last poster is ‘Aquaculture production’ because
it stands for the alternative way to meet continuously
rising consumers demand. It presents statistics about
this rapidly growing industry and important facts about
the impact of aquaculture on habitats (rivers, bays)
and species.
