Lived all my life in Cairo i never paid much attention to this detail & how significant it is to the place. In Cairo we have the dullest colors ever for taxi cabs, white in black. i was blown away by how a simple 2 color code like this can be so functional (as it really helped me) & in the same time a celebration of the city's identity.
I wanted to make a series of photos portraying that piece of urban identity, focusing on my guide through this ordeal, the Peaugot 504 cab, which i found everywhere. shooting it in its natural habitat with its owner.
For most of the cities i didn't know the whereabouts of i asked the driver (after explaining the project) where would he be most comfortable or would he like to be a backdrop for a photo about his city. Also i left him complete freedom as to where & how will he stand infront of his car, to leave this documentary feel to the images & i didn't want everything to be staged & previously thought of.
