stylish garden lounge/kitchen extension

great open plan living spaces! - When I went back to look at this completed project even I was wowed by the new superb open spaces . The kitchen wasn't a bad size before but now it's spectacular and complete with that island unit. It links to the dining area which has itself been stretched out into the new extension to give a relaxing area for the family.It's difficult for people to visualise their houses extended and opened up just from viewing plans, so these type of real life shots really put everything into perspective. It's just great!

superbly fitted kitchen, notice how the return wall of the existing house has been cleverly concealed by making a feature recess on the right hand side
a full 4 metre wide opening, the bottom track of the folding doors is set flush with the floor surface. The 1metre wide doors allow for wide panes of glass and less visual intrusion
the white Velux window blends in perfectly and lets so much light in. The folding doors have a rich brown finish on the inside of the frames to coordinate withe the furnishings, the outside is white. The doors are 1 metre so there is minimum frame visible and maximum daylight.
this is the original concept sketch- There was a conservatory already but conservatories are either too hot, too cold, they will fade your furniture, and they will never be really part of the house because the door to the house will always need to stay in place to comply with building regulations. Just look what was possible with the full width rear extension (and we got written confirmation from the LPA that planning consent was not required due to the careful design)
- The completed extension blends perfectly with the original house, the hipped roof echoes the existing roof and the bricks and detailing are identical. The finish both internally and externally is first class, congratulations should go to the owner for the many hours of painstaking decorating and finishing inside.
- the initial plans showed what was possible and how the new areas would relate
- an accurate section was drawn so that we could see how the pitch of the roof would relate to the depth of the extension, it also shows the construction details
