- The Galician saudade can be described as a melancholic, longing feeling for the motherland.
A desire to what has been and probably won't return. The landscape of Galicia, of which the
coast with the endless sea is an important part, is considered one of the motives of saudade.
This book shows my family history of three generations that migrated at different times from Galicia to Argentina and all returned because of their saudade. Pictures of Galicia, the family
and the sea tell the story, alternating poems of Rosalía de Castro and passages of The Odyssey. Like in The Odyssey, the sea is a desert of water between the migrant and his beloved homeland.
