A quick study of the Los Angeles River basin in Atwater Village. It's both jarring and serene - the evidence of neglect and sprawling urban development are contrasted with lush spots of vegetation, Herons, and other bits of Nature not expected in a giant concrete ditch.
Looking North between Hyperion Ave. & Fletcher Drive. 
The whole word is "Rascals" but I thought it was a little funny that I could crop down to the state's abbreviation.

The heavy rains from the beginning of the year left all sorts of natural and man-made debris wrapped aroud the trees growing at the water's edge.
These Palms are one of my favorite - they have insane root systems and take up growing in some very tough spots.
Always a favorite, the Bougainvillea. This less common white and pink one was stunning.
