pulau duyong...an island of the boatmakers. this is a story, a story of the pulau duyong trench. a natural trench which seperated the main island with another. a shortcut known to the fishermen and a legendary transit station for sea turtles before they beach to lay eggs on the other side of the island. recently, the trench was filled up by the government....
i propose to reclaim it
i imagine an intervention which will grow from the site.
this apparatus shall be possitioned at the heart of the area of the no mans land.
hoardings will channel adjacent water from the cape that will erode the reclamation from the two ends.
as water seeps through, the sand will settle. thus revealing the hidden playground. the boat building playground...
here, as the park metamorphs from time to time..the programmes and events interweave. slowly creating a sequence of a boat building process..
as they enter the park, they will seemlessly experience the process of material treatment, bending and assembling by simply walking through the park.finally, after years of erosion, the process comes to a stop.
now that the sand has gone,boats pass through day by day..
"the boat terminal" is the right name for it now....
