Sustainable design is multi-purpose, as are these cards. The goal of this collateral piece was to provide residents with a variety of ways to “green up” at home. We chose to create a “Top 10” series, covering ways to conserve water and energy and ways to recycle/reuse (more are to follow). All cards are available online too for those who want a digital version. It saves paper!
The heading of each card is similar except for a modern icon that represents the cards’ title, the water droplets, compact flourescent bulb and recycle symbol. Large bright green numbers countdown each tip, though they are not ranked on any particular scale. The green Up logo and web address are found at the bottom of each card. Word choice was an important part of crafting each card too. As with the logo, care was taken to remain positive about change. Words like “replace” and “use” were chosen over “buy”, “don’t” and “shouldn’t”. Also, catchy phrases like “Think before you throw” and “Let nature water for you!” were used to sound upbeat and fun!
