My starting point was a ten of spades. I thought about lots of ideas through lateral thinking, and one of those came from poker and how the dealer or croupier shuffle the cards very fast, creating a visual accordion with them. So that's why I decided to work with paper, trying to build a paper accordion with two strips and creating the letter shapes with it.
Then I started to play with the material and some of the many possibilities that it has. Finally, I created my letterforms by just folding the paper, and I saw that it could create an interesting lighting effect.
The name of the typeface is "Doblando", which means "folding" in Spanish.
