BIO
Lynn Casper is currently the social media strategist for Working Films, a national nonprofit that links social issue documentary films to cutting edge activism. Her Unfortunate Umbrella project exhibited at Projekte (March 2011), WHQR (January-March 2012) and Costello's Piano Bar (May-July 2012).

In 2011 Lynn launched HOMOGROUND, a website featuring music by under-the-radar queer (& queer-friendly) bands/musicians. She hopes to connect queer bands and music lovers together no matter how big their city or how small their town. Homoground consists of weekly podcasts, mixtapes, interviews, live videos and other creative outlets. Feminist Playing Cards is the latest project Lynn is leading for Homoground. The project was funded with a successful Kickstarter campaign. The collaborative project includes 14 artists illustrating feminist musicians for a deck of playing cards. The project is currently in production. www.feministcards.com

Lynn is a main organizer for the Pink Sheep Film Festival, a LGBTQ film festival held during Pride week in Wilmington, NC. She is also worked on the Working Films' Reel Equality initiative in opposition to Amendment One in North Carolina.

In 2010, she was the new media strategist for the documentary film Deep Down [ITVS] about a Kentucky town divided by a proposed mountaintop removal coalmine.

Lynn co-founded Be Yr Own Hero, an activist collective that organized community events in Wilmington, NC. The mission of Be Yr Own Hero was to empower people to create the communities they envisioned. She was a main organizer for the annual Be Yr Own Hero Festival in 2007, 2008 & 2009, which brought together radical & progressive activists & musicians in the southeast region. She was also a main organizer for BIKE HYPE, an all day fundraiser for the 2009 Be Yr Own Hero Festival which featured an alley cat race, bike prom, a screening of the film Veer, and many other bike-related activities.

Branching off the Be Yr Own Hero ideology, Lynn created Be Yr Own Queero in December of 2008 after being accepted to the National Gay & Lesbian Blogger's Summit to narrow her focus on creating visible & supportive LGBTQ communities where they do not exist.

Lynn has written & provided content for Huffington PostThe New Gay, Out Impact, Out Haus, QueerCents & The Bilerico Project.

From 2008 - 2009, Lynn was a contributing writer for DigiActive.org, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to helping grassroots activists around the world use the Internet and mobile phones to increase their impact. In July 2009, Lynn was invited to do a training session on using Twitter & Facebook for community organizing on behalf of DigiActive at the Computer Professional's Union (CPU) Conference in Cebu, Philippines.

Lynn has also been heavily involved in music. In 2003, she went on the 856 tour with fellow singer/songwriter/guitarist Michele Whitlow. She played keys, guitar & vocals with atmospheric-rock band, Doly Toro from 2007-2009. She has opened for Mirah, The Blow, Tilly & The Wall, The Ruby Suns, and many more. In 2009, she teamed up with Teknacolorninja under the name SCANTRON to start Ninjatronics, a music blog/podcast. In 2010, the duo performed experimental/electronic shows under the names Tickle Button & Shooting Triangles. They also brought on DJ Guyfoxxx to form a Thursday night electro-danceparty at Odessa in Wilmington, NC that ran for the first half of 2010. Over the summer of that year, SCANTRON DJ'd at Wilmington's only gay dance club, Ibiza.
