is an digital art movement
It is the first specifically 3dcg-movement to achieve
international influence at the periphery of the
western art world
a role formerly filled by silk painting. Although the term "abstract voxelism" was first applied to pan-polygone art in 2009 by the artist Andreas Martini
, it had been first used in Germany in 2011.
The movement's name is derived from the combination of the emotional intensity and self-denial of the German Expressionists
with the anti-figurative aesthetic of the European abstract schools such as Voxels, 3DCG and Sculpting.
Additionally, it has an image of being rebellious, anarchic, highly idiosyncratic and, some feel, nihilistic.
