Typefaces: Gill Sans Light and Regular, Bodoni, and University Std
I wanted to create a series of bottles that worked as series but also had different meanings and concepts behind each one. My thoughts on the brand was that this would be a novelty item bought to celebrate someones birthday. I used the astrological signs to make the bottles more personal and allow the customer to relate to each one. The words covering the bottles describe the personalities of each sign.
The Libra bottle’s main focus was on symbolism. I allowed the symbol to speak for itself and be the main focus. This is also my own astrological sign.
The concept behind the Aries was to draw inspiration from a particular art movent. I chose Art Nouveau, because of its ornamental qualities. I incorporated the illustration to compliment the light typography. The sign is my mothers atrological character.
The Virgo bottle was inspired by Designer David Carson. I tried to reflect his use of experimental type by playing with the spacing and size of each letter.
If you hadn’t already guessed, Virgo is Carsons sign.
The focus of the Aquarius bottle was just the typography, and the sign I chose to represent by older brother.
