Zizzi Banside - London - Dover Design

  • Zizzi Banside - London
    Wave Ceiling
  • These plywood fins which climb up the stairs and span the 22m length of the restaurant symbolise the Thames river which runs adjacent to the restaurant. The ceiling comprises of 21 veneered fins held to the ceiling with over 800 unistrut fixings. One of the major challenges was designing this feature to incorporate the sprinkler pipes, air conditioning units and lighting systems.

  • Above shows the illuminated fins which droop down the structural columns
  • This imageshows you the length of the restaurant and the private booths on the right handside which overlook the Thames. Every fin which spans the width of the restaurant follows an individual profile to give the waved appearance laterally and horizontally.
  • Here you can see the sprinkler heads, lighting, smoke sensors and air conditioning units which I incorporated into my ceiling design.
  • This image shows the restaurant during the construction stage.
  • Above is a CADrender of the restaurant. I created this in Vectorwors to not only visualisethe appearance of the ceiling from and 3-dimensional perspective but to ensurethere was no interferences between my fins and the obstacles within theceiling.
  • Above shows the ground floor fins which climb the stairs to the 1st floor restaurant.
