Zest! @ Bunratty

The proposed  Restaurant/Cafe/Food Hall is derived from an analytical study of the site. The building form responds to the sun path, prevailing winds and orientation. Over-sailing roofs and 2-3m high native willow screens shelter and shade the building from overheating and the prevailing winds. The building orientation is derived from maximising views of Bunratty Castle and the River Ratty riparian landscape. The external covered areas play an important part of the environmental design. It rains a lot in Clare and the generous covered areas protect people from the rain but also provide spaces where people can sit out and enjoy the scenery on a balmy wet spring/summer/autumn day.
