Yard's Color

Graphic Design Course2011 - "Yard’s Color" is an attempt to answer a question: who am I. It's a reflection about myself in context of my experiences. It's about how they shaped me and how they could influence my future. Is what I'm doing meaningful? Can other people benefit from my actions? Certainly, I have more questions than answers.
Plato's philosophy, his clear, humanistic stream became the starting point for the Diploma. The world of Platonic Ideas on top of which stands The Idea of Good inspired me to take the path of exploring myself through giving to other. That's how thanks to support of Edyta Stein's Society and Society Żółty Parasol (Yellow Umbrella) I had the opportunity to run visual arts workshops for youth.
The Manifesto I wrote became the basis of my actions. The cycle of posters designed by me is an attempt to analyze the system that Plato created for his Ideas. The blog ( http://patrykles.tumblr.com/ ) that I write is a record of what happened during this eventful year as well as its consequences.
What connects it all and makes ideas real is the mural created with nine young persons from the youth club "Impuls". - The Manifesto

- The PostersThe cycle of posters refers to 5 Plato's dialogues for which I designed ten posters. Plato creates a dualism based system. It results from the fact that Platonism is idealistic philosophy saying that in all areas of being and doing, next to real elements that are passing, stand ideal elements that are eternal. And the ideal elements have advantage over real ones.
Posters touch topics of: Love (eternal and worldly) - “The Symposium”, Religion (pious and impious) - "Euthyphro", Ethic (moral and unmoral) - "The Apology of Socrates", Truth (justice and injustice) - "Crito" and Immortality (of body and soul) - "Phaedo".The arrangement of whole is consequential to Golden Ratio and its variations.

Design workshop is an intervention on urban issue. Silesian design collective Wzorro invited USINE-e designers from France to collaboration. They led 3 groups of students to create an idea and design the concept shape on 3 yards in the heart of the city of Katowice.I participated in the workshop. In collaboration with 2 other students we created “Triangle Yard”. Preceded by interviews with home residents and inspired by carpet cleaner – characteristic element of every Silesian yard we designed new look of the yard.In cooperation with: Joanna Jaroszyńska and Natalia PopendaKatowice, Poland 2011
