This is a Lasalle College of the Arts X Curtin University of Technology project. The brief was to give out Australian counterparts a glimpse of our city.
This project is documented by Joel Goh, Boon Tan and Ella Zheng.
The project is about "Kopi Culture".
Kopi is coffee.
What is the "Kopi Culture"?
The "Kopi Culture" is about Singapore's "Kopitiams" (coffeeshops) and our "Kopi". We grew up with the "Kopitiams", this is a place that we could be casual, be ourselves, relax, chat with friends, read the newspaper and have a light meal. The "Kopitiam" ia a place where different walks of life gather and it is affordable for all.
We came up with two design responses. The first design response is a package, which we delivered out to the Curtin students. We created a zine which consists of the types of "Kopi", the instructions on how to brew "Kopi", the equipment used to brew "Kopi" and what is best to have along with a cup of warm "Kopi". In the package, we also included a long spout "Kopi" kettle, "Kopi" cup sets, "Kopi" powder sachets and "Kopi" brewing socks. We wanted to bring the "Kopi" culture to them, to let them feel and experience "Kopi".
Our second response is a video documentation of the experience and the people behind the "Kopi Culture". We interviewed "Kopitiam" owners and workers. We also filmed the ambience and the scene at the "Kopitiam". This would give a better understanding of the culture to our Australian counterparts.
This is also the first time I think the logo I design looks polished.
Hope you guys like it too!
