Design Proposal: National Women's History Museum
History is power. It shapes who we are and offers role models to guide us along our path. Women throughout history have done extraordinary things. Deborah Sampson who felt so fiercely patriotic during the revolutionary war that she resorted to dressing as a man so she could fight. Rosa Parks who fervently declared social injustice by refusing to change her seat on a bus, or Margaret Burke White, who dared to go where other women had not as the first female war correspondent.
I’ll leave you with one astonishing fact – there is no women’s history museum in any nation’s capitol in the world. The National Women’s History Museum will be the first in a nations capital to show the full scope of the history of it’s women and will serve as a beacon to people everywhere.
