This ink piece is representative of a lot of tribal and traditional pattern design that I'm really into at the moment. I love tattoo art and have designed stuff for people (and myself) in the past - this artwork represents my keen interest in tribal tattoo design and the really "freehand" and "automatic" patternation that is used by all these different tribal cultures. I looked at Egyptian, African, Polynesian and traditional Japanese pattern making before creating this piece. It's amazing what similarities they share even though they share little common design ancestry. I suppose that certain shapes and patterns appear in the mind, regardless of culture (something that unites differing peoples)
The wolf motif was also intentional within the design - the figure of the"cunning" and "dastardly" wolf is another piece of symbolism that ancient cultures around the world share.
