If typefaces are to exhibition design what spices are to cooking, Dalton Maag's Plume font certainly adds its very own flavour of contemporary craftsmanship to the signage and exhibition graphics of the refurbished William Morris Gallery in London's Waltham Forest.

Designed by Bruno Maag and Ron Carpenter in 2007, Plume does not only satisfy even the most stringent accessibility standards, it also brings up-to-date William Morris's Arts and Crafts spirit with its beautifully crafted letter forms, that lend the font a fluid character without distracting from its legibility.

The font offers a contemporary take on Morris's work as a textile designer, artist and writer, much like the Pringle Richards Sharratt designed scheme for the building and the exhibition.
