WILKIN'S DRIVE IN
Here is the design made for Wilkins Burgers. It is a burger joint in Selma CA. I was given photos for reference of the statuette they wanted to include in the design. The project was to create a design using two colors, White and Orange, to be screen printed on Black T-shirts.
Here is the reference image that I was given of the "mascot" for the restaurant.
The sketch was created and cleaned up a bit before scanning.
The image was placed in Adobe Illustrator, the opacity was brought down to 22%, and then I begin to trace with the pen tool. I use a small stroke weight of .2px. It helps me to see the image below better.
Here is the image completely traced. The green lines show the vector lines. I used solid shapes along with lines with stroke weight to finish the design. Everything is now made into outlines and united to make the image. Next its on to color.
And here you go... the final design for the shirts with color. The grey here will have to be adjusted because the design was budgeted for a two color screen print.

The design had to stay two color front and back so the "grey" was sumulated with a half-tone white.
This is the set-up for screen print. Screens are burned anc being washed out. Once dry they are mounted and registered to match with each other. Total of four screens. Lay the ink out and its ready to screen.
