Where Dreams Cross

Jane Levy Reed / Rareform Editions
As Jane Reed writes in her essay, Where Dreams Cross, “What most interests me about this symbol is the divergence — the crossroads of two (or more) oftentimes dialectical or contradictory directional forces. Coming from a Jewish heritage with a rebellious affinity toward a symbol outside my religious world, I always felt like a renegade Christian. I’m interested in a visual, spatial/temporal moment rendered in the photograph. Within the cross I seek the decussation, the crossroads, the X of resistance, and even the double cross as related to double consciousness.”
