  • What's That?! Project
Some things shouldn't be so normal.
  • From real images of garbage in the street and stories or ironic comments, the objective
of the project is to show things that people do and assume as normal, but shouldn’t be like that. The idea is to act like a mirror of attitudes we need to change, in order to improve our way of living.

The doorman thinks the sock belongs to a young man, about 25 and 30 years old, that three times a week jumps in a hurry, in his underwear and with the clothes in his hands, from the window of an apartment from the first floor.

A neighbor said that last night was very windy; she believes the sock could be from some person that hung the clothes out. She also said that a few times, she lost some of her panties in the same way, and requested with emphasis to avoid mentioning her name because she would feel embarrassed.

The baker from the corner said the stocking could be from the father of a five year old boy, that is always playing with a sock as a puppet, pretending is an alien that was born the same day as he was.

The manager of the cab stop said there is a woman that every Friday arrives running, asking desperate for a car, with her baggage almost open. He thinks it could be her sock, but he has some doubts as it seems a man stocking.

A hairdresser from the block commented there is a couple that is always arguing, and the yelling only stops when she throws all her husband clothes through the window.

What do you think? How this sock ended here?

He spent the whole day tied to the post, waiting for someone to through something in his mouth. Imprisoned, he couldn’t move to grab what he wanted to eat. Discouraged, with hungry and cold, he sat on the floor to rest.

That day the sponge woke up motivated. She knew she hadn’t a lot of time and that soon would be replaced. Washing the dishes was all she did during her entire life, and that was tormenting her. She could only think it was time to do something significant.

In a hurry, she jumped with a lot of energy, perfumed herself with her best antibacterial detergent and went out decided to clean the streets. That was her most longed objective since she was hanged on the supermarket. To go out took her a lot of effort, and when she saw what it was waiting for her, she fainted.

Marta and Gabriela were smoking in the doorway of the hairdresser's where they work, when suddenly started to cough and laugh non-stop. The reason of their guffaw was Mirta, the manicure who also was with them.

That funny moment could have passed without notice, but the laughing was so absurd, that the clients, curious by nature, wanted to know what had happened.
After that day, every woman told her own version. But according to Gabriela, when Mirta was finishing her Activia, she needed to run desperate when the desire seized her, leaving the recipient in the flower bed.

  • The Race Car

For his fourth anniversary, Thomas got a fantastic race car as a gift. It wasn't electric and modern, just one of those with pedals, a car that had a family tradition. That incredible toy with which he would go around the neighborhood streets was owned by his uncle, his dad, two cousins and his brother.

During the next two days after the party, he wasn't able to go out with his splendid formula 1, because it was always raining. Anxious, he put on the helmet, got into the car, grabbed strongly the steering wheel, pressed the pedals and imagined himself running a race through a 4 blocks route, stopping in the neighborhood's boxes: the bakery, the supermarket and the pharmacy.

On the third day, when he woke up, he went quickly to see if the sun had come out. Amazed of seeing shinny day, he asked her mother, Maria, if he could go with her to by the groceries driving his new toy. Half hour later they were in the streets. When they run into some neighbors, Thomas was called by the name of different famous racers. Absolutely happy and without knowing from whom were those names, he smiled to everyone.

During the race, they stopped first at the pet-shop to buy food for the cat, then they went to the butcher's, and when they were next to the pharmacy, his mom ask him to be careful and slow down. At the beginning he obeyed, but when we realized that they were near their house, it was like he had never heard her.

To make the most of the last minutes of fun, Thomas began to pedal at his highest speed: 4 miles per hour. Because of the speed, his fringe was almost flying with the wind. Worried, his mom asked him again to slow down, but when he reached the corner of the sidewalk, he crossed with an old woman who was carrying a shopping cart. Thomas, accidentally and without any reflex, beat her.

He started crying immediately, but not because of being hurt. When he saw that the formula 1 had lost a wheel, he felt that the family tradition would end because of him. To calm him, his mom and the lady tried to explain that it would be easy to repair the car. But he continued crying, imagining his uncle's face, his cousins', his brother's, and his father's mainly.
