West Wrigley - Chicago Cubs Spring Training Facility

West Wrigley
The Chicago Cubs Spring Training Facility - Mesa, Arizona
As part of 360 Architecture's ongoing pursuit of amazing sports architecture projects, we were part of an interview process vying for the Cubs' Spring Training Facility in Mesa, Arizona. This effort included presentation materials as well as the leave-behind book seen below. The book, which includes a two-color screen printed cover and laser-routed binding system, was conceptualized, designed and assembled in under a week. The cover was printed by Valhalla Studios, binding by Gumo and printing by Soli Printing.
Detail of screen print.
Detail of the laser-routed and machine distressed binding. Screw posts were used as the binding element as well as an homage to the rivets in the steel structure of Chicago's elevated train.
We attempted to truly represent what it was like to be a Cubs fan throughout the book. The sights, sounds, smells and even the mantra of Wrigleyville and the Cubs nation was prevalent.
Incorporating the city of Mesa was also a mandatory objective for the book. We felt that representing them accurately while weaving the Cubs into their fabric was an integral part of the leave behind and the project itself.
Our closing spread injected a bit of humor but also depicts the devotion of Cubs fans to their team. Our hope was also align our interests and motivation with that of the Cubs by including a relevant quote by the legendary Harry Caray.
