The Watkins Community Museum of History, created by the Douglas County Historical Society, explains local history through its exhibits, lectures, tours, and other events. After photographing the museum I was intrigued by all of the detail put into making this historic building. Those details brought us to a concept that focuses on reflecting the rich history of the building, and the final mark was inspired by the iron work throughout the building.
Lindsey Nichols and I worked together to create the concepts, textures and style guidelines for this brand. I worked on creating the business system and website for the Watkins Historical Museum while she created a system for the Douglas County Historical Society. The textures were created with watercolors and image transfers from photocopies of old photographs of the building and historical events in Lawrence.
