I had the opportunity to work on the redesign of the Waters Magazine for the Aquarium this year. Making science look interesting is always a challenging task, especially when this magazine was targeted toward regular people who are members of the Aquarium and not scientists. The Underwater Beluga exhibit was long overdue for a renovation. Over the summer I spent numerous hours with the writer, designing engaging visitor experiences that challenged people to learn something new about the Arctic. With a short timeline and a team of one designing the exhibit panels, the results were worth the long nights and long days. Created strong local & international ties with researchers, the Inuit community and Arctic photographers (National Geographic). Bringing in new guests, people enjoying, children pointing at the life-size animals and playing on the touch tables made this a very special project to work on.
