Years ago, in 2006, I received the first Walter S. Blackburn Design Scholarship before entering college. In May 2011 I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Communication and decided to reach out to the committee to give back. They had been using a photo of a medallion as their logo, and I offered to develop a new logo/identity to help them better represent the organization. With that, I joined the committee and began working on the new logo immediately. Once we achieved the finalized logo, I was asked to design the save the date card, the invitation, and the program cover. Being the first recipient and first college graduate, I am honored to be able to give back to a committee who chose to help me. I am now a committee member for life, until I retire, (which will be no time soon) and I look forward to continuing to provide design to an amazing organization.
