Wake Up! AIGA conference poster concept
the set-up : lots of coffee, lots of brushing, the wonderful aroma of coffee
close-up of coffee drips and spoon with coffee. the end of a paintbrush was used to write the words in the grinds. the coffee was actually mixed with peanut butter to enhance the color. coffee is actually a surprisingly workable medium to work with, and allows for quite clean lines once brushed flat.
detail of large slab-serif type made with coffee grounds. I initially began this with sans-serif letters (based on helvetica stencils), but later added the slab serifs to make it more unique and depth to the "color" of the text.
detail shot of final image composited onto poster background. color correction makes the coffee appear richer, fresher (than the several months old it actually was)
final poster composition
