Team Logos, Uniforms and Advertising

Starting with a completely blank canvas, Vince McMahon's WWE had the challenging task of developing eight unique new brands, including team names, logos and uniforms to embody the attitude, personality and spirit of their new brand of "Smashmouth" football – The XFL. The work also had to be complete in only 60 days, an exercise that typically requires 6-9 months per team.

Although the league lasted only one season, the effort required to develop the branding solutions was nothing short of miraculous; all eight names, logos and uniforms were ready in time.

Left to right, Bruce Burke introduces – with former Dallas Cowboy wide receiver and XFL GM, Drew Pearson and XFL President, Basil Devito – the XFL's team names, logos and uniforms at a packed media press conference at WWE's Times Square themed restaurant and night club.
Top to bottom, XFL’s Western Conference: San Francisco Demons, Las Vegas Outlaws, LA Xtreme, and Memphis Maniax.
The Eastern Conference, top to bottom, The Birmingham Thunderbolts, New York/New Jersey Hitmen, Orlando Rage, and Chicago Enforcers.
Print ads to position a new brand of football – rooted in the heritage of the game’s past, but with an attitude all its own. Spread as seen in Playboy magazine.
