Volta is a collection of short fiction, poetry and non-fiction produced by RMIT students. It will be the third in a series of creative writing anthologies produced annually by RMIT, following Undertow (2011) and Little Spines (2012). 
 
Volta is the name of an Italian scientist who invented the battery.
Volta is the name a river in Ghana.
Volta is the name of a medieval dance.
Volta is a literary term, describing a shift or point of dramatic change in a sonnet.
 
It is derived from the Latin word, ‘voluto’, meaning to roll, twist, turn etc. but also to orbit, and to ponder.
 
The connection between a scientist, a river, a dance, and a literary term? Electricity, conduits, flow, natural geometry, and movement. Volta represents the fluidity of meaning.
