I had been planning to design and build a bike for a some time but I couldn't find the right frame as a base for the project. However, when a friend donated an old 80s Raleigh Flyer frame I knew I could get the the project 'on the road' as it were.
The finished result is the striking VinylSingle, a fixed gear/singlespeed bike. The frame and bars are finished in a combination of woodgrain vinyl and white paint on the rear stays, forks and lugwork.
Additional components iclude white Espresso 45mm Deep V wheelset with flip/flop hub and matching white Halo Twin Rail tyres. The bike is then topped off with a rather special limited edition Charge Bucket saddle by British designer and Central St Martins graduate, Jeff Griffin.
The finished bike is a combination of traditional materials, build quality and geometry, enhanced by the simple addition of some modern contrasting components.
