Vector Gallery
I do a mix of traditional and vector work for myjob and clients. All of the vector work here was done in IllustratorCS2 and CS3. My layouts usually begin as a rough pencil sketch, which Irender and build over in illustrator. I like to break away from the usualvector look and make my own perspective as well. Its a bit more workbut I believe worth it for the overall style. Enjoy. My fingers hurtjust thinking about 'em.
Turkey Hunting Tactics
A spread for Field and Stream with lots of tectures. I love this stuff
For process comparisons, here's the rough sketch, and what I will use as my base in illustrator after approved:
Giant Time Hunting Tactics
Trophy buck are smart, but a skilled hunter always has a few tactics uphis sleeve. Here's two (of five) diagrams for Field & Stream'swinter Giant Time package. My goal with all of my diagrams is to pullthe reader right into the piece and put them in the elements. Itbecomes vector art with a bit of organic realism.
Opening Season
One of my favorite challenges with graphics is the design ofinformation. There is always a fine line between designinginformation/data along with executing medium. Sometimes we have optionsto use color as a tool, rather than just for basic rendering. Here's a fewpieces which push the envelope a bit. These are part of a 4 spreadfeature on opening season hunting tactics
Deer Rifle Accuracy
Another spread. Shows you what you need to know before taking that "long shot"
Accuracy revisited
If last season's infographic still has your aim off, try this years new look.
CSI Mistakes
This scene shows steps investigators take toprotect a crime scene (seems to be a crime of passion in this one). Onenice option to vector art is its good for showing sensitive topics in asafe way.
Capturing Carbon
Scientists want to bury CO2... which sounds likea good time. I had to stay small with this one (just over 5 inches).Sounds easy right? Not when your handed 200 pages of scientificreports. I had to crack this out in just one afternoon, so after a fewhours of reading, sketching and editing, I kept the style simple tomake deadline. I like it.
