Vanessa Gate is a young womenswear designer based in the UK and she needed an identity creating in time to launch her inaugural collection for the spring/summer 2013 season. The minimal logotype constructed from her initials is based on clean, simple lines and geometric forms that are prominent within her garments. The colour scheme is mainly black and white, with an emphasis on production through laser-cutting different elements of her collateral to add an extra dimension to the identity. Any piece that is laser cut allows whatever materials and colours that Vanessa is using at the time to show through, enabling the identity to subtly but constantly adapt to her new designs. Corporate stationery has been designed along with swing tickets and other retail elements whilst I also helped to direct her graduate show exhibition space.
