Ā
A research about typography in Spanish political parties. It analyses how typography changes depending on the ideals of the party, the popularity they have in each elections, and the image they want to give to the people.Ā
Ā
The study starts around the 30ā€™s before and after the Civil War, those were the first political posters in Spain. It finishes with the end of the dictatorship in 1957. This first chapter analyzes how influential is this period for all the parties that will appear with democracy. Since that point left wing and right wing parties adopt different styles according to what their predecessors had used.Ā
The second part of the catalogue itā€™s a compilation of propaganda of the 6 most important parties in Catalunya, Spain. Here we can see how typography changes over the years. At the beginning a bit randomly, but every time more and more aware of its importance.
As a conclusion, I compare the looking of Catalan parties with the looking of other countries parties and see if what happens in Spain is an international situation.
