Utopian Nightmares
The forest, as children it is a variety of different things, a play ground to which can be explored to no end, ever enchanting and mysterious. A utopia. However fairytale's and other such writing makes this peaceful place taken on a very sinister face.
These images look at how this time of night can transform the landscapes that we knew in the day to become something eerie and unpleasant at night. There is an element of seduction with the rich blues that the light produced; however at the same time there is repulsion here. There is a conflict between the natural world and our reading of it, the trees become something to be feared as they become supernatural creatures. Is this really a utopia or just another nightmare?
