When an eye meets the irrefutable contrast of new India, you see the world's top metro rail system and Akshardham in the same breath. Abandoned shanties and an expressway in one frame. The Taj Mahal Hotel and the Gateway of India across a road. Villages turned to mega silicon cities. Working class heroes converted into software ghetto heroes. Italian food joints next to a Durga temple. A Kashmiri muslim helping the Amarnath yatris. A St. Bernard dog in one of the hottest cities. An Assamese restaurant in a Gujrati target market. Folk music finding a place in Goa trance. Micromax beating iPhone's sales. 70% youth in a 500 BCE-old country.

Amidst the chaos and contradiction, lies the essence that India is. Somewhere there in between India looks like a living organism, shaded in black and white and offering colourful experiences.

Urban Nowheres is a photo essay in black and white. Black and white is the contrast of India. And, the greys are us. Ordinary and anonymous.
