- Urban Furnishing
One man's trash is another man's treasure
- DescriptionSan francisco’s so-called “floating flea market” often benefits those who leave things out and those who pick things up, but there are significant disadvantages to the practice of abandoning furnishing on the sidewalk. Besides being illegal, it often creates trouble and expense for the city and blights neighborhoods when things aren’t claimed immediately, or at all. Clearly, not every item finds a new home. According to statistics provided by SFDPW last year the city received nearly 17,000 calls to pick up dumped furniture.
Urban Furnishing is an operational base that serves as a central hub for collecting abandoned furniture and placing it on one of three appropriate second life paths: Collect - Transform - Share. The Urban Furnishing is a hive of community partnership, ground breaking design and awareness campaigning.
